Station Privacy Policy

Drop Station Inc. d/b/a Station (“Drop Station,” “we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Drop Station is a community and membership platform for podcasts (podcasts), enabling podcast fans (users) to create engaging discussions, chat, events, rewards, contests and memberships all in one place under their own brand. We have prepared this Privacy Policy to describe to you our practices regarding the Personal Data (as defined below) we collect, use, and share in connection with the Drop Station website, and other software provided on or in connection with our services, as described in our Terms of Service (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Acceptance of this Privacy Policy. 

By accessing and using our Service, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with or you are not comfortable with any aspect of this Privacy Policy, you should discontinue access or use of our Service.

2. Types of Data We Collect. 

“Personal Data” means data that allows someone to identify you individually, including, for example, your name, email address, as well as any other non-public information about you that is associated with or linked to any of the foregoing. “Anonymous Data” means data, including aggregated and de-identified data, that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Data; Anonymous Data does not, by itself, permit the identification of individual persons. We collect Personal Data and Anonymous Data as described below.

Information You Provide Us.

Website Users
a. your full name in your Station profile; your email address;
b. your physical address, city, state/province, and country if you select a membership; or offering with a physical benefit and choose to provide your shipping information;
c. your other Station profile information, including your avatar or profile image;
d. all information about your membership, including amount and start date but not your full payment card information;
e. some aggregated data about how you use Station, including analytics like post views, comments, video views, upvotes, rewards or content that you unlock and shares and the topics you are interested in from that show;
f. Your level in a community and your status in that community, including awards and badges you’ve received and any moderator or other roles you have;
g. Survey information that you complete in a creators “Station”. If you choose to participate in that survey, then you agree that your responses, which may include your personal data like full name and email address, will be shared with the associated Podcast or brand conducting it;
i. Communications that we exchange with you, including when you contact us through the Service, social media, or otherwise.
j. Marketing data such as your preference for receiving our marketing communications and details about your engagement with them
k. your username you provided on leaderboards, showing your rankings, usage statistics and quiz results;
l. rewards and offers you have won or unlocked through participating in challenges, and contests. Including the prize, prize value and action you took to win it.
m. public chat feeds and posts and image and video uploads in which you and the person viewing the community you have joined or profile that both are or have been present in;
n. the offerings you’ve purchased on Station related to the Podcast associated with that community;
o. your subscription, membership tier, status, or other recurring payment information related to the Podcast associated with the community you have joined;
p. the Stations you have joined and the podcasts you have added to your profile;
q. Transaction data relating to or needed to complete your transactions through the Service, such as your name, the transaction amount and/or timestamp;
r. Communications that we exchange with you, including when you contact us through the Service, social media, or otherwise,
s. Marketing data such as your preference for receiving our marketing communications and details about your engagement with them; and
t. Other data not specifically listed here, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
Additional information collected from Podcasters that 'Create a Station'
a. your full name in your Station profile, username and Spotify URL;
b. your avatar or profile image in your Station profile;
c. your biographical description in your Station profile;
d. your connected social media accounts in your Station profile for that community;
e. To verify a podcast host or responsible party to claim the ‘Station page’ for their show, we may ask for Formal Identification Information, Government issued identity documents such as Passport, Driver's License, National Identity Card, State ID Card, Tax ID number, and/or any other information deemed necessary to comply with our legal obligations under financial or anti-money laundering laws;
f. Other data not specifically listed here, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.

3. Information Collected via Technology.

As you navigate through and interact with our Service, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

a. Information Collected by Our Servers. To provide our Service and make it more useful to you, we (or a third party service provider) collect information from you, including, but not limited to, your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, mobile device ID, blockchain address, wallet type, and date/time stamps.

b. Log Files. As is true of most websites and applications, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes IP addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (“ISP”), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamps, and clickstream data. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Service, track users’ movements around the Service, and better tailor our Services to our users’ needs. For example, some of the information may be collected so that when you visit the Service, it will recognize you and the information can be used to personalize your experience.

c. We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf. 4. Cookies and similar technologies. 

Like many online services, we use cookies to collect information. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to analyze how users interact with our Service, make improvements to our product quality, and provide users with a more personalized experience.

a. Web beacons, also known as pixel tags or clear GIFs, which are used to demonstrate that a webpage or email address was accessed or opened, or that certain content was viewed or clicked.

b. How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals. Our systems do not currently recognize “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that might enable Users to opt out of tracking on our site.
c. Cookies. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are and how we use them, the types of cookies we use i.e, the information we collect using cookies and how that information is used, and how to manage the cookie settings.Cookies are small text files that are used to store small pieces of information. They are stored on your device when the website is loaded on your browser. These cookies help us make the website function properly, make it more secure, provide better user experience, and understand how the website performs and to analyze what works and where it needs improvement.

How do we use cookies? As most of the online services, our website uses first-party and third-party cookies for several purposes. First-party cookies are mostly necessary for the website to function the right way, and they do not collect any of your personally identifiable data.The third-party cookies used on our website are mainly for understanding how the website performs, how you interact with our website, keeping our services secure, providing advertisements that are relevant to you, and all in all providing you with a better and improved user experience and help speed up your future interactions with our website.

Essential Cookies: Essential Cookies are required for providing you with features or services that you have requested. These cookies are essential in order to enable you to navigate and move through the website and use its features. For example, certain cookies enable you to log into secure areas of our Services and enable us to remember your login details. Functionality Cookies: Functionality Cookies are used to record your choices and settings regarding our Services, maintain your preferences over time, and recognize you when you return to our Services. These cookies help us to personalize our content for you, greet you by name, and remember your preferences (for example, your region).

Performance/Analytical Cookies: Performance/Analytical Cookies allow us to understand how users use our Services such as by collecting information on how often a user engages with a particular feature of the Services. We use these aggregated statistics internally to improve the Services, for example, in an effort to make the Services interesting to as many users as possible. Performance/Analytical Cookies also help us measure the performance of our advertising campaigns in order to help us improve our campaigns and the Services’ content for those who engage with our advertising. Marketing Cookies: Marketing Cookies collect data about your online activity and identify your interests so that we and our advertising partners can provide advertising that we believe is relevant to you. We may also share information about you with these companies to facilitate interest-based advertising to you or similar users on other online platforms. Podcast cookies: In addition to the cookies Station uses, Podcasts on Station may choose to set certain tracking and analytics cookies, subject to the Podcast’s own terms and policies. These Podcast cookies may include cookies set by third parties such as Twitter, Facebook, Google, Podscribe, Magellan AI.

Manage cookie preferences: In the EU Countries & UK you can change your cookie preferences any time by clicking our cookie button in the bottom right of the screen on this page. This will let you revisit the cookie consent banner and change your preferences or withdraw your consent right away.

In addition to this or if you are outside these locations, different browsers provide different methods to block and delete cookies used by websites. 5. Analytics Services. 

In addition to the tracking technologies we place like Cookies and Pixel Tags, other companies may set their own cookies or similar tools when you visit our Service. This includes third-party analytics services (“Analytics Services”) that we engage to help analyze how users use the Service. The information generated by the Cookies or other technologies about your use of our Service (the “Analytics Information”) is transmitted to the Analytics Services. The Analytics Services use Analytics Information to compile reports on user activity, which we may receive on an individual or aggregate basis. We use the information we get from Analytics Services to improve our Service. The Analytics Services may also transfer information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process Analytics Information on their behalf. Each Analytics Services’ ability to use and share Analytics Information is restricted by such Analytics Services’ terms of use and privacy policy. By using our Service, you consent to the processing of data about you by Analytics Services in the manner and for the purposes set out above.‍

6. Information Collected from Third-Party Companies. 

a. We may receive Personal and/or Anonymous Data about you from companies that offer their products and/or services for use in conjunction with our Service or whose products and/or services may be linked from our Service.

b. We may combine personal information we receive from you with personal information we obtain from other sources, such as:

Our Service allows you to sign in with Google or Facebook third party social sign services. These features may collect your IP address and which page you are visiting on our Service, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Your interactions with these platforms are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

8. Use of Your Personal Data.

We process your Personal Data to run our business, provide the Service, personalize your experience on the Service, and improve the Service. Specifically, we use your Personal Data to:

a. facilitate the creation of and secure your account;
b identify you as a user in our system;
c. provide you with our Service, including, but not limited to, helping you view, explore, join community discussions and surfacing relevant rewards using our tools.
d. improve the administration of our Service and quality of experience when you interact with our Service, including, but not limited to, by analyzing how you and other users find and interact with the Service; For example, we may create aggregated, de-identified or other anonymous data from personal information we collect by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you, and may share this information for marketing, advertising, research or similar purposes;
e. provide customer support and respond to your requests and inquiries;
f. investigate and address conduct that may violate our Terms of Service;
g. detect, prevent, and address fraud, violations of our terms or policies, and/or other harmful or unlawful activity;
h. display your username next to your posts;
i. send you a welcome email to verify ownership of the email address provided when your account was created;
j. send you administrative notifications, such as security, support, and maintenance advisories;
k. send you notifications related to actions on the Service, including notifications of offers on your rewards, or if you have won prizes.
l. send you newsletters, promotional materials, and other notices related to our Services or third parties' goods and services;
m. respond to your inquiries related to employment opportunities or other requests;
n. comply with applicable laws, cooperate with investigations by law enforcement or other authorities of suspected violations of law, and/or to pursue or defend against legal threats and/or claims; and act in any other way we may describe when you provide the Personal Data.
o. We may create Anonymous Data records from Personal Data. We use this Anonymous Data to analyze request and usage patterns so that we may improve our Services and enhance Service navigation. We reserve the right to use Anonymous Data for any purpose and to disclose Anonymous Data to third parties without restriction.
p. To assist us in advertising on third party websites, mobile applications, and other online services, and to evaluate the success of our advertising campaigns through third party channels (including our online targeted advertising and offline promotional campaigns).
q. To better understand how users access and use our Services, both on an aggregated and individualized basis. For example, we will evaluate which features of our Site and Services are more (or least) used by users, and we will use this information.

9. Disclosure of Your Personal Data. 

We disclose your Personal Data as described below and as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.

a. Information shared with Podcasts
By “joining” a Station or purchasing a Station membership or using an offering on Station that is offered by a Podcast, or otherwise engaging with or becoming a member of a Podcast’s “Station”. Or by creating an account as a Podcast or by claiming a “Station page”, you are joining a Station community. We may share your information with the Podcasts you “join”. Podcasts may be able to save, download or sync copies of their audience address book and personal information for use outside of Drop station, which may include email, name, address, date of birth, additional Contact Info and Messaging Info provided. They may connect their Station account with a third party provider to sync this data including Hubspot and Active Campaign. The information practices of Podcasts are not covered by this Privacy Policy. Before signing up, we encourage you to review that Podcast’s privacy policy.

Station maintains a Data Processing Agreement governing how Podcasts are permitted to process the information that is shared with them. This details a Podcast’s promise to protect the privacy of their members or subscribers during and beyond their Station relationship. You can view the here.
b. Information shared with Brands
By entering contests to brands and ‘subscribing to their newsletter’ to gain entries, we may share your email with the brand specified that you subscribed to and the Station page you were interacting with. We urge you to review the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy of the Campaign Owner to understand how they may use your data once it leaves Station.
c. Third Party Service Providers.
We may share your Personal Data with third party service providers to: provide technical infrastructure services; conduct quality assurance testing; analyze how our Service is used; prevent, detect, and respond to unauthorized activities; understand demographic data; process payments; provide technical and customer support; and/or to provide other support to us and to the Service. These service providers include payment card processors, data analytics firms, web hosting and storage vendors.
d. Website Users.
If your user profile allows it, you may choose to populate certain user profile information, including, without limitation, your name, subscriptions, interests, badges, levels, “Stations” you have joined, location, and any image content. Your username and any information that you post to our Site, including, without limitation, reviews, comments, posts you make, images you upload and videos you link to and text will be available to, and searchable by, all users of the Site and Services. Your account privacy settings may allow you to limit the other users who can see the Personal Information in your user profile and/or what information in your user profile is visible to others.
e. Affiliates.
We may share some or all of your Personal Data with any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under our common control (“Affiliates”), in which case we will require our Affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
f. Advertising partners.
We may disclose personal information about you to our vendors to assist us with providing or marketing our Services to you, including as described in the “Our Use of Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms” section below.
g. Corporate Restructuring.
We may share some or all of your Personal Data in connection with or during negotiation of any merger, financing, acquisition, or dissolution transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets. In the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, Personal Data may also be transferred as a business asset. If another company acquires our company, business, or assets, that company will possess the Personal Data collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy.
f. Legal Rights.
Regardless of any choices you make regarding your Personal Data (as described below), Drop Station may disclose Personal Data if it believes in good faith that such disclosure is necessary: (a) in connection with any legal investigation; (b) to comply with relevant laws or to respond to subpoenas, warrants, or other legal process served on Drop Station; (c) to protect or defend the rights or property of Drop Station or users of the Service; and/or (d) to investigate or assist in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, or our Terms of Service.
g. Other Disclosures.
We may also disclose your Personal Data: to fulfill the purpose for which you provide it; for any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide it; or with your consent.

10. Third-Party Websites. 

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites. When you click on a link to any other website or location, you will leave our Service and go to another site, and another entity may collect Personal Data from you. We have no control over, do not review, and cannot be responsible for these third-party websites or their content. Please be aware that the terms of this Privacy Policy do not apply to these third-party websites or their content, or to any collection of your Personal Data after you click on links to such third-party websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of every website you visit. Any links to third-party websites or locations are for your convenience and do not signify our endorsement of such third parties or their products, content, or websites.

11. International Data Transfers

We are headquartered in the United States and may use service providers that operate in other countries. To facilitate our global operations, we may transfer, store, and process your personal information within our subsidiary, third-party partners, and service providers based throughout the world. Your personal information may be transferred to the United States or other locations where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your state, province, or country.

12. Your Choices Regarding Information. 

You have several choices regarding the use of information on our Services:

a. Access or update your information. If you have registered for an account with us through the Service, you may review and update certain account information by contacting us.

b. Opt-out of marketing communications. You will receive transaction-related emails regarding the Service you have requested. We may also send you certain non-promotional communications regarding us and our Service and you will not be able to opt out of those communications (e.g., communications regarding the Service or updates to our Terms of Service or this Privacy Policy). You may opt- out of marketing-related emails by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the email, in your notifications settings area, or by contacting us. Please note that if you choose to opt-out of marketing-related emails, you may continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing emails. While this allows you to stop many notification emails, we will still send other service-related emails.

c. Cookies and similar technologies. You may stop or restrict the placement of cookies and web beacons on your device or remove them by adjusting your preferences as your browser or device permits. Please review our cookie policy above, in ‘4c. Cookies’ for more information.

d. Do Not Track. Some Internet browsers may be configured to send “Do Not Track” signals to the online services that you visit. We currently do not respond to “Do Not Track” or similar signals. To find out more about “Do Not Track,” please visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.

e. Linked third-party platforms. If you choose to connect to the Service through your social media account or other third-party platform, you may be able to use your settings in your account with that platform to limit the information we receive from it. If you revoke our ability to access information from a third-party platform, that choice will not apply to information that we have already received from that third party.

13. Data Access and Control. 

You can view, access, edit, or delete your Personal Data for certain aspects of the Service via your Settings page.

At any time, you may leave a “Station” by clicking ‘Joined’ or going to your notification settings and ‘toggling off’ the podcast you have “joined”. If you disable the "Station" you have joined in your settings, then your public profile, which is described below, may be reflected to fellow community members by no longer showing you have joined that “Station”.

When you comment on a post, like a post or message, react to a post or message, join a chat room, send a chat message, express interest in an event, unlock a reward, join an event experience, and take other community actions you are visible to the Station website visitors and members in the associated communities you have joined. Comments, messages, likes, and reactions in community spaces are visible to the associated Station visitors and anyone that visits that webpage in the future may be able to see the full history of comments, messages, likes, and reactions.

Within each “Station”, if you have posted or upvoted a post, you may delete this post and remove your upvote, to delete this data from the public and community members.

For example, if you make a post in the home feed, and you leave the associated “Station” or community, your post will still show, but you will no longer be subscribed to information from that creator. If you would like to delete this post, you can find it in the home feed, or via your notifications settings and delete it there. You may also have certain additional rights:r delete your Personal Data for certain aspects of the Service via your Settings page.

You may also have certain additional rights:
a. If you are a user in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have certain rights under the respective European and UK General Data Protection Regulations (“GDPR”). These include the right to (i) request access and obtain a copy of your personal data; (ii) request rectification or erasure; (iii) object to or restrict the processing of your personal data; and (iv) request portability of your personal data. Additionally, if we have collected and processed your personal data with your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

You may also have rights to object to some processing activities or to request restriction of some processing activities. Where we have asked for your consent to process your Personal Information, you may also have the right to withdraw this consent. These rights may be limited in some situations or in accordance with applicable law – for example, we cannot delete your Personal Information when we can demonstrate that we have a legal obligation to retain it. In some instances, this may mean that we are able to retain data even if you withdraw your consent or you delete your account.

Where we require Personal Information to comply with legal or contractual obligations, then provision of such information is mandatory: if such information is not provided, then we will not be able to manage our contractual relationship, or to meet obligations placed on us. In all other cases, provision of requested personal data is optional. Please note we will always inform you where the provision of your Personal Information is mandatory or optional.

You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In the event you have unresolved concerns, please note that you have the right to complain to a data protection authority. b. If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). These include the right to (i) request access to, details regarding, and a copy of the personal information we have collected about you and/or shared with third parties; (ii) request deletion of the personal information that we have collected about you; and (iii) the right to opt-out of sale of your personal information. As the terms are defined under the CCPA, we do not “sell” your “personal information.”

Where you have directed third-party services to provide Personal Information to us, you can direct those third-party service providers to stop providing us your Personal Information. For example, you can use your Google security settings page to revoke our access to information from your Google account.

c. If you wish to exercise your rights under the GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable data protection or privacy laws, please contact us by using the “Submit a request” link  or at the address provided in Section 13 below, specify your request, and reference the applicable law. We may ask you to verify your identity, or ask for more information about your request. We will consider and act upon any above request in accordance with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

d. We remind you that this Privacy Policy does not apply to any processing of your Personal Information by Station as a data processor on behalf of a Podcaster. A Podcaster’s own terms and policies govern its use of Personal Information it collects through Drop Station Inc., including their own marketing emails and other communications. Please review our Data Processing Agreement governing how Podcasts are permitted to process the information that is shared with them.  
e. Contacting our Data Protection Officer. If you have privacy concerns or questions, you can contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO) via email at support@dropstation.io with “Attention DPO” in the subject title.

14. Data Retention. 

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it to provide the Service, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting obligations or to resolve disputes.

15. Data Protection. 

We take steps to secure your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We have technical and administrative safeguards to protect the security and confidentiality of your personal information. Unfortunately, no system is 100% secure when transmitting and storing data, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you provide to us. By using the Service or providing personal information to us, you agree that we may communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your use of the Service. If we learn of a breach, we may attempt to notify you electronically by posting a notice on the Site or by sending you an email.

16. Minors. 

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly request to collect personal information from any person under the age of 18. If a user submitting personal information is suspected of being younger than 18 years of age, we will require the user to close his or her account and will not allow the user to continue using our Service. We will also comply with applicable legal requirements and take steps to delete the information as soon as possible. Please notify us if you know of any individuals under the age of 18 using our Service so we can take action to prevent access to our Service.

17. Users Outside of the United States. 

If you are a non-U.S. user of the Service, by visiting the Service and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that your Personal Data may be processed for the purposes identified in the Privacy Policy. In addition, your Personal Data may be processed in the country in which it was collected and in other countries, including the United States, where laws regarding processing of Personal Data may be less stringent than the laws in your country. By providing your Personal Data, you consent to such transfer.

18. Third Party Websites or Applications.

The Service may contain links to other websites/applications and other websites/applications may reference or link to our Service. In addition, our content may be integrated into websites or other online services that are not associated with us. We encourage our users to read the privacy policies of each website and application with which they interact. These third- party service are not controlled by us. We do not endorse, screen, or approve, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices or content of such other websites or applications. Providing personal information to third-party websites or applications is at your own risk.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy. 

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy at https://home.station.page/privacy. The date the Privacy Policy was last revised is identified at the beginning of this Privacy Policy. You are responsible for periodically visiting our Service and this Privacy Policy to check for any changes.
